REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - Harvard, the fourth-ranked women's varsity lightweight eight crew in the country, opened an early six-second lead over UC Davis on Sunday, on its way to a victory over the Aggies in their duel at the Windermere Collegiate Crew Classic, hosted by Stanford.

Harvard covered the first 500 meters of the 2,000-meter course at Redwood Shores in 1 minute, 40.63 seconds, ahead of UC Davis which was timed in 1:46.94. Harvard stretched the lead from there, winning in 6:48.00. The Aggies posted their second-fastest piece of the race in the final 500 meters, rowing to a split of 1:52.75, and finished the race in 7:29.50.

UC Davis competed against top-ranked Princeton and No.3 Stanford in varsity lightweight eight races on Saturday at the regatta, which featured many of the the top collegiate crews. The Aggies return to action next weekend when they travel to the San Diego Crew Classic.
