FOLSOM, Calif. - UC Davis' women's varsity eight crew followed its victory at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships on Saturday by finishing third in the petite final at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships on Sunday at Lake Natoma.

The Aggies had a key win over Western Washington on Saturday in the Division II varsity eight event and returned to Lake Natoma on Sunday to cover the 2,000-meter course in 7 minutes, 00.8 seconds, finishing just ahead of fourth-place Loyola Marymount which was timed in 7:01.3. UCLA won the race by nearly seven seconds over Sacramento State, clocking a time of 6:52.9. UC Davis went 7:10.0 during the morning preliminaries.

The second varsity eight and novice eight boats each finished sixth in grand finals on Saturday, timed in 7:21.9 and 7:05.02, respectively. The novice boat had a tough grand final with UCLA taking first, followed by Cal, Washington, Oregon State, Washington State and UC Davis. The second varsity eight was sixth behind UCLA, Sacramento State, Loyola Marymount, San Diego State and Santa Clara. Oregon was seventh, 40 seconds behind UC Davis.

The novices opened the day with a third during the morning heats while the second varsity was fifth in its heat.

UC Davis is expected to learn this week if it will receive a berth in the NCAA Division II Championships.
