UC Davis Opens Fall Season At Wine Country Rowing Classic

PETALUMA, Calif. - The UC Davia women's rowing team opened the fall portion of its 2006-07 on Sunday by winning the Collegiate 4+ competition at the WIne Country Rowing Classic, hosted by the North Bay Rowing Club at the Petaluma Marina.

The competition was a head race with crews starting at short intervals as they raced each other as well as the clock. The Aggies covered the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 15 seconds, well in front of the Sonoma State Rowing Club which was second in 19:26. Sonoma State's second entry was third in 20:48.

In UC Davis' boat were coxswain Katherine Cobbarubia, stroke Angela Bruno, Vanessa Cuellar, Heidi Okowitz and Sunny Caldwell.

UC Davis will continue its fall season with the Head of the Port in West Sacramento next Sunday.
