WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The UC Davis women's rowing team will hit the water for its first competition of the spring on Sunday morning when the Aggies host the Davis Invitational at the Port of Sacramento.

Competition, which will also include the UC Davis men's club team, will start at 8 a.m. with the women's varsity eight and will include novice eight (9 a.m.), varsity four (10 a.m.) and novice four (11 a.m.) races. The Port of Sacramento course covers 2,000 meters.

The Davis Invitational, formerly called the Davis Invitational Rowing Tournament, will also feature crews from Santa Clara and Sonoma State. Cal's lightweight crew will also participate in the event.

The UC Davis roster returns five rowers who participated in the varsity eight during last year's Western Intercollegiate Rowing Championships grand final. Brittani De Riemer returns to her stroke seat and will be joined in the Aggies' "A" boat on Sunday with returners Darcy Ward, Autumn Huey and Paige Kendall. Hannah Owens also returns and will help lead UC Davis second entry in the race.

The Davis Invitational concludes a busy day for the Aggies who hosted their annual Parents/Alumni Day at the port on Saturday.
