Official CRCA Announcement

DAVIS, Calif. - Five members of the UC Davis women's rowing team - Lia D'Angelo, Brittani De Riemer, Paige Kendall, Brittney O'Brien and Brooke O'Brien - have each earned academic distinction by being named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Associaton (CRCA) Scholar-Athletes, the organization has announced.

Members named to the prestigious team have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, are in at least their second year of eligibility and have raced in either 75% of their team's races or in a regional conference competition.

D'Angelo, a sophomore from Pebble Beach, is majoring in exercise biology while De Riemer is a junior from La Mesa, Calif., also majoring in exercise biology. Both were mainstays in the Aggies' varsity eight throughout this past season, D'Angelo as coxswain and De Riemer in the stroke seat. De Riemer is being honored as a CRCA Scholar-Athlete for the second straight year.

Kendall, a sophomore from Mill Valley majoring in biological sciences, was also member of the varsity eight - mostly in the four seat - and also saw action in the varsity four. Brittney O'Brien and Brooke O'Brien, sisters from Costa Mesa, are juniors majoring in anthropology and human development, respectively. They rowed in the second varsity eight throughout the spring while also competing in the varsity four.

The Aggies helped UC Davis enjoy a successful spring season which included six wins by the varsity eight, a bronze medal at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships by the second varsity eight and a victory by UC Davis in the Jean Runyon Cup against Sacramento State.
