RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Junior forward Lisa Jensen's goal in the 86th capped a late comeback as UC Riverside scored the final two goals for a 2-1 victory over UC Davis in a women's soccer match in Friday's first round of the Highlander Classic.

With the loss the Aggies fall to 1-3 on the season while the Highlanders remain perfect at 5-0.

The two teams were evenly matched over the first 45 minutes, with the Highlanders holding a 5-2 edge on shots. Both teams hit the post early but neither team could convert in the first half, however, as the game remained scoreless.

The Aggies opened the scoring at the 71 minute mark, as senior midfielder Tristan Ngoon claimed her first goal of the year. Ngoon, playing her first game of the season after battling back from an injury, was the quickest to react in a goal-box scramble, redirecting the ball past UCR's Tawny Poggio. The goal was the first conceded by the Highlanders this season and marked the first time that UC Riverside had trailed all year.

Three minutes later the Highlanders evened the score as Ashlee Stephens sprinted past two defenders on the left flank and crossed to a waiting Amber Plumlee. Plumlee sidestepped a defender and slammed the ball past Aggie goalkeeper Krystyn Lizak for her second goal of the year.

With time running down, freshman Jenna Leonti moved down the right side before sending a ball to Jensen at the edge of the 18-yard box. Jensen wasted little time, rocketing a right-footed shot into the top of

the net for the game-winner.

UC Riverside outshot the Aggies 15-5 in the contest, forcing Lizak into five saves. Poggio did not make a save in net for the Highlanders.

UC Davis is next in action on Sunday when it concludes play at the Highlander Classic with a 10:30 am meeting against Texas, El Paso.
