CHICO, Calif. - Liz Malm and Janelle Raaf each tallied a goal and the Wildcat defense posted its second straight shutout as Chico State defeated UC Davis, 2-0, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association women's soccer match Tuesday afternoon at University Soccer Stadium.
With the loss the Aggies fall to 1-3-1 on the season, 1-2 in CCAA play with the Wildcats improve to 3-3-1 overall, 1-1-1 in conference action. It also marked the first victory for Chico State over UC Davis in the last eight meetings.
The Wildcats, who had scored just three times in their last five matches, opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Malm collected Jennifer Hogans' pass in the box and powered it home. Chico State made it a 2-0 advantage in the 67th minute when Raaf headed home Amy Swanson's cross for the final score of the match.
For the game the Aggies held a 13-10 advantage in shots, but could not put any past Wildcat goalkeeper Angela Orr, who collected eight saves on the afternoon. Aggie goalkeeper Krystyn Lizak made three saves in net for UC Davis.
UC Davis will next be in action on Friday when it hosts Cal State Stanislaus at Aggie Field. Gametime is set for 1:30pm.
