Raymond Scores A Pair As Aggies Defeat Utah Valley State, 4-2

DAVIS, Calif. - Junior Lindsey Raymond had two goals and freshman Megan Wall added a goal and two assists as UC Davis defeated Utah Valley State 4-2 in a women's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Wolverine Field.

With the win the Aggies improve to 3-6 on the season while Utah Valley State falls to 2-6-1.

The Wolverines got on the board first as Nichole Averett's corner kick found the head of Alyssa Wagar, who redirected the ball past Aggie keeper Krystyn Lizak for the 1-0 lead at the 3:09 mark. Less than two minutes later, Wall gained the equalizer as she took a corner from Roxanne Croze and controlled it long enough to beat Wolverine goalie Natasha Bell just 4:59 into the contest.

Raymond put the Aggies ahead in the 32nd minutes as she took a crossing pass from Wall and recorded her third goal of the season. Just before halftime Utah Valley State tied the contest as Stephanie Cosper recorded an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute.

In the second half freshman Annie McAllister scored the game-winner as she took a pass from Croze and blasted a shot from the top of the 18-yard box, giving UC Davis a 3-2 lead. Raymond added an insurance goal in the final minute as she beat Bell from the top of the box after a crossing pass from Wall.

For the game both teams fired 12 shots while the Aggies held an 8-6 edge in corner kicks. Lizak made four saves in net in the first half while Megan Daws came in for the second and recorded two saves. Bell finished the game with five saves.

UC Davis is next in action on Friday as it returns to Aggie Field to face Air Force. Gametime is set for 4 p.m.
