RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Senior Lisa Kemp scored two goals in a game for the first time in her career as UC Davis posted its second-highest scoring total of the season with a 4-1 Big West Conference women's soccer win at UC Riverside on Thursday night.

UC Davis ended a brief two-game winless streak while picking up its first conference victory of the season. The Aggies are 7-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the Big West. UC Riverside, which was playing its league-opener and its first game in 11 days, is 5-6-1 overall.

The Aggies scored twice in each half, picking up goals from Aisha Lott and Lisa Kemp in the first half and then from Kemp and senior Allison Kelly in the second. Vanessa Ybarra scored on the game's final play to give the Highlanders their lone goal.

"It was a high-energy night for us and we had a great team mentality," said head coach Maryclaire Robinson. "It was a night when were were hitting on all cylinders."

UC Riverside outshot UC Davis 15-13 and each team put eight shots on goal but it were the Aggies who managed to capitalize on their opportunities throughout the game. Maria Magana, who had seven saves in the game, had back-to-back stops in less than 60 seconds just over 20 minutes into the match before Lott stole the ball just across midfield, race toward the goal and fired into the back of the net from 20 yards out to put UC Davis in front 1-0.

Kemp then delivered the eventual game-winning goal in the 43rd minute when she one-timed a pass from freshman Rogan Dolan, making it a 2-0 game at halftime. Kemp wasn't done yet, though, taking a direct kick from 20 yards out in the 62nd minute that barely crossed the goal line after bouncing off the cross bar.

Kelly completed the Aggies' scoring outburst in the 69th minute and delivering her fifth goal of the season, tying Kemp for most on the team. Ybarra's score came at the end of the game when she drove from the left side to the right, beating the buzzer with her shot.

Magana had four saves in the first half and three in the second.

The Aggies will return to action on Oct. 13 when they host Pacific at 3 p.m.
