DAVIS, Calif. - Pacific broke a tie with less than a minute remaining on its way to a 2-1 victory over UC Davis Sunday afternoon in a Big West Conference women's soccer game at Aggie Soccer Stadium. Alex Topp scored the game-winning goal with 34 seconds remaining in the contest. Earlier in the half, Aisha Lott scored her second goal of the year for UC Davis.
Pacific (9-4-2, 3-1-0 Big West) took the early lead when Kristina Wavomba scored a goal in the 13th minute to make it 1-0. That turned out to be the only goal in the first half as Pacific finished the period outshooting UC Davis, 5-4.
At about the same point in the second half, in the 58th minute, UC Davis (6-7-1, 1-4-0 BWC) tied the game when Lott connected on a free kick from about 35 yards out. The sophomore defender lofted the kick past the Tiger keeper to even the contest with 32 minutes to play.
The score would remain 1-1 for virtually the remainder of the half. It appeared to be destined for overtime before the Tigers set up for a free kick with under a minute to play. The sequence started when Kylee Ah Choy initiated the kick from just inside midfield. Angelica Figueroa headed the kick in the middle from about 10 yards out to Topp. Topp then scored her goal from about five yards out with just 34 seconds to play.
For the game, UC Davis outshot Pacific 13-10. The Aggies took six corners compared to one for the Tigers. Sarah Peters finished with three saves while Pacific's Jill Medigovich posted five.
UC Davis returns to action Friday when it hosts UC Santa Barbara in its home finale at 2 p.m.
