ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -
Junior Leifa Mayers scored the game's only goal in the 87th minute on Saturday afternoon as UC Davis turned a large advantage in shots into a 1-0 California Collegiate Athletic Association women's soccer game at Rohnert Park.
The Aggies returned to the win column and are 7-7-1 overall, while the Seawolves fell to 7-8-2. UC Davis improved to 7-5 in the CCAA with Sonoma State dropping to 5-5-2.
The Aggies outshot the Seawolves 13-3 in the game but couldn't score against the Seawolves' Kellie Campbell until Mayers' shot from the middle of the field glanced off Campbell's fingertips for the game's lone score. Sophomore midfielder Kristin Aja picked up the assist.
Five different UC Davis players had two shots in the contest while none of Sonoma State's three shots were on goal. Aggie goal Krystyn Lizak earned the shutout for UC Davis.
UC Davis played its final road game of the season on Saturday. The Aggies will begin a season-ending four-game homestand when they host San Francisco State on Wednesday in another CCAA game at 3 p.m. at Aggie Field.
