Aggies Fall To Highlanders In Season Finale

Final Stats

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside scored a pair of second-half goals on its way to a 2-0 victory over UC Davis in a Big West Conference women's soccer game Sunday afternoon. The contest was the regular season finale for both teams as the Aggies conclude their season 6-10-1 overall and 1-7-0 in the Big West. The Highlanders finished 6-9-4 and 1-6-1, respectively.

The game was scoreless through the first half. The Aggies outshot the Highlanders 11-8, but neither team was able to break through. It would remain 0-0 until the 55th minute when UCR's Ashley Parks scored a goal off of a corner kick to put the Highlanders up 1-0. It would remain that way until the 72nd minute when UC Riverside added an insurance goal by Kayla Troesh. UCR was helped by a 17-8 shot advantage in the second half.

For the game, the Highlanders outshot the Aggies 25-20. Sarah Peters and Kathleen Brandl each played a half in goal and saved three shots apiece for UC Davis.

The finale ended the careers of four Aggie seniors. Marisa Boge, Jordan Martin, Rochelle VanBuskirk and Britnee Warmerdam all capped off four-year careers. VanBuskirk put together one of the most prolific scoring seasons in UC Davis history with 13 goals and 30 points this year.
