DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's and women's soccer teams will begin their spring season on Saturday, Apr. 7 with three games at Aggie Soccer Field.

The day begins with a men's game against Dominican at 10 a.m. The women's team will follow with a game against Chico State at noon before the men's team wraps up with a 4 p.m. contest against Cal State Monterey Bay.

Both teams enjoyed strong seasons in 2011, earning spots in the Big West Conference Tournament.

The men's squad was the third-place team in the conference, finishing the year with an overall record of 7-8-4. Matt Wiesenfarth earned the program's first ever Big West Freshman of the Year honor while the Aggies tied a Div. I record with 11 overtime games.

The women advanced to the conference's postseason tournament for the first time ever with an 11-7-1 overall record, tying for third in the final standings. Head coach Maryclaire Robinson was named Big West Coach of the Year.
