DAVIS, Calif. - Sophomore forward Sienna Drizin and senior midfielder Ashley Edwards received first and second team recognition respectively when College Sports Madness announced its annual Big West Preseason All-Conference teams.
In her first season as an Aggie, Drizin scored four goals, a total that includes game-winning shots versus Lamar and at UC Santa Barbara. Combined with an assist earned at Hawai'i, she ended the season with nine points -- the third-highest total on the team.
Due to her contributions on the pitch, the Las Vegas native earned a spot on the Big West's All-Freshman and All-Conference second team.
One of three team captains elected by the players for the upcoming season, Edwards is ready to return to action after scoring a team-high seven goals last year. A fixture in head coach Maryclaire Robinson's starting lineup, she started all 19 games and earned a team-high four points on two goals against San Jose State - the most goals scored by an Aggie in a single game in 2012.
Hailing from Danville, Calif., Edwards posted career-high numbers in nearly every category last year; when her junior season concluded, she finished with goals, points, shots and shots on goal totals that were higher than her freshman and sophomore efforts combined.
The Aggies will compete in their lone exhibition match of the 2013 season against Oregon on Friday, Aug. 23, at Aggie Soccer Field. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
