DAVIS, Calif. - Sienna Drizin, who finished third in scoring on the UC Davis women's soccer team, received a pair of honors on Wednesday by being named to the All-Big West Conference second team as well as its All-Freshman team, it was announced by the league.
Drizin, a forward from Centennial High School in Las Vegas, started all 19 games for UC Davis during her first year of collegiate soccer, tallying four goals and an assist for nine points. She had 16 shots on goal, second-most on the team, and tied for team-high honors with two game-winning goals.
Drizin tallied her first goal in the Aggies' 4-0 win over Lamar on Sept. 21 and then followed with goals during the Big West season against UC Santa Barbara and then a pair, including the game-winner, at Pacific on Oct. 5. She assisted on Lexi Poppoff's score at Hawai'i on Oct. 19.
"I think it's an excellent start to her career," said head coach Maryclaire Robinson. "Among the things that Sienna brings is such spunk and such fight. She's a handful to defend, and when you have that kind of pace and that kind of fight wrapped into one player, she's a handful to defend.
"She did very well coming in as a freshman and making an impact in in the conference."
Nadia Link of Long Beach State was named the Big West Offensive Player of the Year, Cynthia Jacobo of Cal State Northridge earned top goalkeeper honors, Chloe McDaniel of Cal State Fullerton was named the top defender and Cici Kobinski of Cal Poly was selected the Midfielder of the Year.
Elise Kreighoff of Cal Poly was voted the Freshman of the Year and Demian Brown of Cal State Fullerton received Coach of the Year accolades.
UC Davis finished its season 8-9-2 overall and 3-5-1 in the Big West.
