UC Davis returns to Big West play this weekend at Cal Poly; junior right-hander Andrea Reynolds returns to her hometown
2016: Ranked No. 53 in the nation, and No. 3 in the Big West Conference, with her 1.44 walks allowed per seven innings average... Against Stony Brook (3/12) and Dartmouth (3/26), she collected the first complete-game victories of her career in consecutive games... Allowed only two hits against the Seawolves, then returned to the circle and allowed only four hits against the defending Ivy League champions and 2015 NCAA Tournament participant... Ranked No. 2 on the team in innings pitched (92.1)... Posted the third-lowest ERA (4.55) and opposing batting average (.328)... Appeared in 28 games and named a starter on 19 occasions... Fanned a season-high five batters vs. Stony Brook... Earned victories, in back-to-back league games, vs. Hawai'i (4/2, Gm. 2) and Long Beach State (4/9).
2015: Ended her sophomore season with a 4-4 record and 6.82 ERA... Her four wins was the second-highest total among all pitchers... Struck out six batters throughout her 40.0 innings pitched... Named a starting pitcher in seven of her 20 appearances... Recorded victories against Bakersfield (2/8), Santa Clara (2/15), Cal Poly (4/11) and at UC Santa Barbara (4/19)... Threw a season-high 5.0 innings at Pacific (4/21)... Fanned a season-high two batters vs. Bakersfield and at Hawai'i (5/8).
2014: Earned a No. 12 NCAA ranking with four saves, also a league-high figure... All four saves were earned against Big West teams... Led the team with her 2.77 ERA... Those totals ranked Reynolds No. 1 and No. 3 respectively in the Big West... Her .289 opposing batting average was the second-lowest among all Aggie pitchers and No. 10 in the league... Started seven of her 32 games played... Ended her inaugural season at UC Davis with a 4-6 record... Fanned 28 batters throughout her 93.2 innings pitched... Recorded a 1.67 ERA against Big West teams... Recorded a complete-game victory in the Aggies' season-opener vs. Arkansas (2/7)... Struckout a season-high four batters vs. Pacific (2/11)... Returning to her hometown for the first time since arriving to UC Davis, Reynolds earned her inaugural collegiate save at Cal Poly (4/12, Gm. 1)... Named the Aggies' starting pitcher in the final two games of that series (4/12, Gm. 2 and 4/13)... Allowed only two hits and one run en route to a 3-2 UC Davis victory to complete Saturday's doubleheader against the Mustangs... Other saves were earned vs. UC Santa Barbara (4/18, Gm. 1), UC Riverside (4/26, Gm. 2) and Hawai'i (5/9, Gm. 1).
SAN LUIS OBISPO HS '13: Earned four varsity letters as a member of the school's girls' softball team... Throughout her high school years, Reynolds was a two-time all-league first team honoree (2011, 2013), two-time all-league second team recipient (2010, 2012)... Also collected first-team all-county, MVP, Black and Gold and Coaches awards... Earned Academic Excellence distinction from 2010-12.
PERSONAL: Parents are Denise and Steven Reynolds... Both parents attended Cuesta College and earned a degree from Cal Poly... She is the oldest of their two children... Not many people know that she has webbed toes and loves water activities... Once competed in the U14 national championship... Also enjoys playing water polo... Clayton Kershaw is her sports hero... Would love to travel to Europe... Chose to attend UC Davis because she would receive a great education and play softball --two things she will cherish once she completes her degree's requirements... Her great uncle founded Carl's Jr.... The Field of Dreams in Cathedral City, California, is her favorite facility that she has played softball... Her advice to others, "Be thankful and never take anything for granted" ... Competed for the San Jose Sting club softball team for five years... With Reynolds on the roster, the Sting were champions of the 2010 Colorado Sparkler Tournament... Also finished the 2010 year as 14U ASA National Champions.
