SAN DIEGO - Taylor Peters hit 3-for-3 and scored three runs, Caroline Figueroa hit 2-for-2 and drove in two runs, Ashley Lotoszynski scored twice and recorded two RBI in UC Davis' 9-1 win in six innings. That run-ruled result was the first of two games that took place for the Aggies in their second day at the San Diego Classic I, their Saturday schedule ended with a narrow 7-6 loss to tournament co-host San Diego later that evening.

Before she even threw one pitch against Detroit Mercy, Andrea Reynolds benefitted from a four-run cushion thanks to her team's four runs scored in the top of the first.

The Aggies' first run was scored in exciting fashion when Brianna Warner stole home, one-half of a double steal that also saw Taylor Peters take second. A bunt double from Lotoszynski -- yes, you read that correctly since her bunt split the Titans' middle infielders and rolled into center field. Rather than hold up at first, Lotoszynski never broke stride and ended up on second.

A single up the middle drove in Lotoszynski, which was followed by a two-out double steal that allowed Alexis Carney to reach home.

In the second inning, UC Davis' offense continued where it left off from the previous inning, which began with a bases-loaded walk drawn by Christa Castello. Including Carney's sacrifice fly and a single to center from Figueroa stretched UC Davis' lead to a 7-1 margin.

With Reynolds continuing to cruise through each inning, the Aggies continued to score runs, by tacking another onto its lead in the fourth and another in the sixth, on a single down the left field line by Maddie Rojas which ended the game.

Against San Diego, the tournament's co-host, Peters continued to swing a hot bat by recording a hit in each of her four plate appearances. Castello and Carney each hit 2-for-3; the former scored and drove in a run while the latter scored twice and earned two RBI to help UC Davis score six runs entering the top of the fifth.

But it was a late Torero rally that stole a victory away from the Aggies when USD drove in the game-winning run, with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, to earn a split of its Saturday games as well.

UC Davis will end its stay in San Diego with an 11:30 a.m. game on Sunday at San Diego State, the tournament's other host.
