DAVIS, Calif. - Junior third baseman Ashley Lotoszynski and senior catcher Alexis Carney each homered in an 11-run second inning, leading UC Davis to a 15-0 victory over Bryant in its first game of the Aggie Invitational II collegiate softball tournament Thursday evening.The Aggies improve to 10-17 for the year. The Bulldogs slip to 3-16. Lotoszynski, who plated center fielder Brianna Warner in UC Davis’ four-run first frame, launched her first career grand slam in that second-inning outburst for five total RBI. Carney’s blast came early in the second. Warner reached on an error to lead off then stole second. The Aggie catcher then deposited a 1-1 offering beyond the left-field fence for her third home run of the year. Warner, Carney and Lotoszynski each scored three runs. Designated player Taiya McInnes added a 2-for-4 day with a pair of RBI. Overall, the Aggies also totaled six stolen bases: two by Warner, plus one each by Carney, Lotoszynski, McInnes and left fielder Caroline Figueroa. Senior starter Andrea Reynolds gave up two hits and walked one in three innings complete for the win. Freshman Frankie Mendoza then fanned three in two perfect relief innings. Bryant brought out three pitchers, with Brandi Burgin taking the loss. Colby Norris did fire 2.1 scoreless innings for the Bulldogs. The 15-run output is the most by an Aggie team since a 17-5 win at UC Riverside on April 30, 2011. The margin of victory is the most since the 2001 team defeated Bethany by an identical score at the season-opening Diamond Sports Best In The West Tournament. The Aggie Invitational II continues through Sunday. UC Davis hosts Saint Mary’s (1:15 p.m.) and North Dakota (3:30) in Friday’s session.
