SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Victorious in its last six head-to-head matchups, UC Davis saw Cal Poly snap its streak by defeating the Aggies 6-0 in Sunday afternoon's Big West conference game at Bob Janssen Field.

UC Davis will enter its next conference series with a 14-25 overall and 3-6 Big West mark; Sunday's result pushes Cal Poly records to 22-16 and 4-5.

With their win, the Mustangs prevented the Aggies from recording a three-game sweep for the second consecutive season.

Cal Poly plated its first run in the bottom of the second inning, but it was the Mustangs' four-run fourth that led to the game's eventual result.

In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, the Aggies were able to successfully generate scoring opportunities and found ways to frustrate the conference's top pitcher in Cal Poly's Sierra Hyland. By doing so, UC Davis handed Hyland her seventh loss of the year.

In Sunday's matchup, Hyland singlehandedly salvaged the Mustangs' weekend by allowing only three hits to the Aggies.

UC Davis will return to action on Friday, April 18, when the Aggies host a doubleheader against UC Santa Barbara. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.

For the third straight season, UC Davis softball will host its annual Team Sammie Bunny Drive on April 18th. Taking place throughout that day's doubleheader against the Gauchos, fans from either team are encouraged to donate a new bunny, or stuffed animal, at the entrance of La Rue Field.

All stuffed animals received will be donated to local children's hospitals in memory of Samantha "Sammie" Hartsfield.
