SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Until Friday's Big West series opener, UC Santa Barbara was the hottest league team at home after winning 10 of its previous 12 game on its own diamond -- a location where the Gauchos collected 13 of their 25 wins this season. However, it was UC Davis that was the dominant team at Campus Diamond today by scoring in each of the first four innings, capped by a four-run outburst in the fourth, to record a 7-0 victory.

UC Davis will enter Saturday's 1 p.m. doubleheader, its final road games of the season, with a 20-29 overall and 5-11 Big West record; UC Santa Barbara falls to 28-24 and 8-8 thanks to this result.

Ashley Lotoszynski kicked-off the Aggies' scoring spree in the first inning by hitting her team-high fifth home run of the season, giving her team an early 1-0 lead.

Reaching base on the first Aggie at bat in the second inning on a Gaucho error, Alexis Carney eventually scored on Marissa Jauregui's sacrifice fly to center, doubling UC Davis' lead in the process.

After Alex Sotomayor opened the top of the third with a single, she stole second to place herself in scoring position with only one out. Advancing to third on Maddie Rojas' grounder to second, Sotomayor scored the Aggies' third run when Brianna Warner came up clutch with a single to short.

With UC Davis starter Katie Kibby allowing only two hits throughout the first three innings, everyone in attendance knew the freshman right-hander was on point and hitting her spots. The way she was frustrating the Gauchos at the plate, a one-run lead seemed to be all she needed to help the Aggies begin their weekend with a victory.

Kibby's teammates gave her a three-run cushion through three innings, but it was the events that took place in the fourth that blew the game wide open for UC Davis.

A single, UCSB error and another single is how the Aggies began their result-clinching scoring spree. The first two runs of the frame were scored on a single from Caroline Figueroa, which pushed her team's lead to 5-0. A triple to right from Lotoszynski is how Sotomayor, who re-entered the game to run for Figueroa, earned the Aggies' penultimate run; Lotoszynski plated UC Davis' final run when Rojas grounded out to second.

From that point on, UCSB's batters were unable to handle Kibby as she picked up her sixth complete-game shutout victory --her second in as many appearances -- and 13th overall of the season.

Led by Lotoszynski and Warner with two, eight different Aggies recorded a hit against UCSB's pitchers to give UC Davis its fourth straight win in Santa Barbara.
