DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis will embark on a 17-game road swing starting this weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. While in Cathedral City, Calif., the Aggies will start their schedule Friday morning versus Syracuse before facing No. 24/24 Notre Dame-a team UC Davis defeated at last year's Diamond Devil Invitational (hosted by Arizona State).
Saturday's lone game will bring UC Davis and UNLV together for the second time this season; these same teams faced one another on Feb. 7, in the inaugural day of action at UNLV's Sportco Kick-Off Classic.
Two early morning games against LIU Brooklyn and No. 6/6 Oregon will take place before softball returns to Davis.
Of the five games on UC Davis Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic schedule, live stats are available for Friday's matchup versus Notre Dame and Saturday's game against UNLV.
ALL MY BAGS ARE PACKED, I'M READY TO GO
Starting this weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, UC Davis will play its next 17 straight games on the road before hosting its next set of home games, a doubleheader against Saint Mary's on March 26. This stretch of events is second only to UC Santa Barbara and its 20-game trip for the longest road swing on any of the eight Big West schedules.
ONE STEP CLOSER
Freshman right-hander Dana Cruse surrendered just two hits in five-plus innings for her first collegiate win while sophomore shortstop Christa Castello collected two singles and drove in the game's only run, leading UC Davis to a 1-0 victory over Sacramento State in this season's only home Causeway Cup event. The victory added another 2.50 points in the Aggies' Causeway column, only four more points are needed to keep the cup in Davis for another year.
COACH YODER COLLECTS NO. 200
When UC Davis stepped off the diamond after capturing a 2-1 win against Robert Morris on Feb. 15, at the Stacy Winsburg Memorial Tournament, head coach Karen Yoder recorded victory No. 200 at the helm of the Aggie Softball.
