DAVIS, Calif. -- Fans will be able to follow the UC Davis baseball and softball teams during trips to Southern California this spring as the Aggies will make five appearances on ESPN3 as part of a 28-game baseball and softball package unveiled by the Big West Conference.

UC Davis baseball makes its 2014 television debut on Friday, April 4, against defending league champion, and preseason No. 1 pick, Cal State Fullerton, at 7 p.m. from Goodwin Field. Two weeks later, UC Davis and UC Riverside face off at the Riverside Sports Complex, with the first two games of the series on April 18-19 picked up by the network. First pitch for those two contests is scheduled for 6 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

The Aggies' softball team will make an appearance during its final road trip of the season, as its series-opening doubleheader at Cal State Fullerton on May 3 from Anderson Family Field will be shown live. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m., with the second game of the doubleheader to follow approximately 30 minutes after the end of game one.

All games on the schedule will originate from Southern California member institutions Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside, via the Big West's new mobile production facility. Each game will be produced by the conference utilizing full ESPN production standards, including graphics, replay, and on-air crew.

It is the first fully operational mobile production unit of its kind that expands upon what ESPN Emerging Technology has already done at the institutional level.

"The Big West's baseball and softball presence on ESPN3 expands upon what is already offered through ESPNU, giving fans opportunities all season long to watch their favorite team in action," said Big West Commissioner Dennis Farrell. "We anticipate our institutions will be able to use this endeavor as an additional avenue to promote and publicize their programs."

Every game on ESPN's platforms will also be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members, on Apple TV, and Roku to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
