IRVINE, Calif. - By hitting .545, posting on-base and slugging percentages of .545 and .636 throughout UC Davis' three-game series at UC Santa Barbara last weekend, senior centerfielder Brianna Warner earned Big West Player of the Week honors.
The senior centerfielder had six hits in 11 at bats, scored a run, drove in a run, and stole three bases in as many attempts to hold the league's top individual total entering the final series of the season. When Warner returns to La Rue Field for Friday's series opener vs. CSUN, she will enter that game with a BWC-high 27 steals.
With Warner leading the way, UC Davis won last Friday's game, 7-0, and Saturday's eight-inning series finale by a 4-2 score.
The Tracy, California native opened the weekend by hitting 2-for-4, stole a base and drove in one of the Aggies' seven runs. Warner's weekend ended with a double in the Aggies' finale, one where they scored twice in the top of the eighth to collect their fifth victory in the last six played in Santa Barbara.
Even though UC Davis was edged 4-2, she was a perfect 3-for-3 with a run scored and stolen base in that game.
First pitch on Friday will take place at 3 p.m. vs. the Matadors; Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 12 noon. Live stats for all three matchups are available at UCDavisAggies.com.
