DAVIS, Calif. - Dominique Lastrapes has joined the UC Davis softball staff as an assistant coach, announced head coach Karen Yoder. Lastrapes most recently served as the director of softball operations at Washington following a standout four-year playing career for the Huskies.
"Dominique is a great addition to our staff who brings a great passion for the game and is highly motivated to be our lead offensive coordinator and infield specialist," said Yoder. "She has great vision and desire to help bring our program to the next level."
Lastrapes served as Washington's director of operations for the 2008 season following a four-year career with the Huskies. As a player, she helped guide the team to the NCAA Tournament in each of her four years, including two appearances in the Women's College World Series. The Huskies averaged 38 wins per season while Lastrapes was in uniform. In all, she batted .342 for her career while starting 232 games while receiving Pac-10 postseason honors all four years.
In addition, Lastrapes was a two-time All-American while starting 232 games for the Huskies. Off the field, she was named to the Dean's List as a sophomore and senior.
Lastrapes' coaching experience includes assisting the Washington Lady Hawks 18 Gold (2007-08) and the 14U Corona Angels in the summer of 2005. She also has been a camp instructor for both Washington and UCLA.
Lastrapes replaces Rachel Sherman, who recently was named the head coach at Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
