LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior shortstop Christa Castello, junior right-handed pitcher Dana Cruse, outfielder Megan Salazar and former UC Davis first baseman Amy Nunez received All-America recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2014-15 academic year when the organization released its list of award winners Tuesday afternoon.
All-Americans must carry a 3.5 GPA or higher to receive recognition.
“It is an honor to have the NFCA recognize these student-athletes for their hard work and success in the classroom, especially at one of the top public schools in the nation,” said head coach Erin Thorpe. “Our season spans two academic quarters; I am very proud of all four All-America honorees for their ability to successfully balance their academic and athletic responsibilities.”
A total of 1,554 Division I softball student-athletes earned All-America status.
