DAVIS, Calif. -- Four UC Davis softball standouts have been honored for their work in the classroom, standing among a group of nearly 1,900 Division I student-athletes named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-America Scholar-Athlete honor roll for the 2016-17 academic year.
Christa Castello, who graduated with a degree in human development, was named to the NFCA's list for the third time in her career after earning the honor in 2015 and 2016, while Brianna Warner, a 2017 graduate with a degree in human development, junior Caroline Figueroa, and sophomore Marissa Jauregui, each earned the award for the first time in their careers.
Honorees must carry a 3.5 grade point average or higher to receive recognition. Since the NFCA began handing out the award in the 2013-14 academic year, nine different Aggie student-athletes have been named to the honor roll.
A complete list of Division I award winners is available on the NFCA's website by clicking here: https://nfca.org/web_docs/Academics/SA/Scholar-Athletes_2017-DI.pdf.
