DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis head softball coach Karen Yoder will be one of a select group of coaches nationwide who will take part in next week's NCAA Women Coaches Academy (WCA). The five-day training event is open to coaches from any sport and any division.
The WCA was started in 2002 with an initiative to train, support and retain women coaches. Its objectives include skills development, retention and mentoring. During its existence, there have been 15 academies. This month's event runs Dec. 11-15 in Denver, Colo.
"It is a tremendous honor to be a participant and have the opportunity to learn from outstanding leaders and fellow peers," said Yoder. "I look forward to bringing back a wealth of knowledge to UC Davis softball."
Yoder is in her fifth season as the Aggies' head coach. UC Davis will open its 2009 season Feb. 7 at the Cathedral City Classic.
