Henderson enters his fifth year with the Aggie swimming program, serving double duty as assistant for both the men’s and women’s teams. Like Motekaitis, Henderson is no stranger to the local swimming scene – he is now in his fourth decade of coaching in Northern California.
Henderson first joined the Aggies in 1983 as the interim head coach for the UC Davis women’s program. During that lone season at the helm, Henderson guided the Aggies to a fourth-place NCAA finish, was selected Coach of the Year in the conference, and boasted an unprecedented four individual national champions. Among his protegés are Cal Aggie Athletic Hall of Fame enshrinees Anna Pettis-Scott and Jamie McClellan.
Henderson recently retired from his position as senior coach for the Woodland Swim Team. In his 13 years in Woodland, he has garnered three Sierra Nevada Swimming Coach of the Year honors and guided numerous members of the national junior team.
Henderson graduated from Sacramento State in 1980 with a degree in social science.
