2017-2018: Joined the team in the winter of 2018, missing the tournament portion of the season… Finished her debut collegiate season with a 13-7 overall record and 4-3 conference singles record…. Posted a perfect 11-0 singles record at the No. 5 position, leading the team in most wins received for a single lineup position… Saw three sets of three wins in-a-row, the first set taking place on Jan. 21 to Feb. 3, the next taking place between Feb. 10 to Feb. 17, and the last taking place from Feb. 28 to Mar. 14… Out of the 13 total wins, 10 of them were straight-set wins… Posted a No. 5 singles straight-set win at the Big West Conference Championships on Apr. 27… Went 11-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play for doubles… Remained undefeated at No. 3 doubles with partner Nikita Pradeep with a 4-0 record… Saw an eight-win doubles streak from Feb. 28 to Apr. 15… Rounded out her doubles play with a win at the No. 3 spot over a Cal Poly duo at the conference championships.
CLUB MED ACADEMICS’17: Did tennis all four years… Was the winner of the Junior Masters when she was a freshman at IMG Academy… Was ranked 500th in the ITF as a sophomore, and ranked 377th in the ITF in her junior year… Highest national ranking achieved in 2014 (29th)… Currently a 4-start recruit ranked 113th nationally and 3rd in Hawaii… Has an overall record of 13-9 according to TennisRecruitingn.net as of Jan. 3, 2017.
PERSONAL: Born in Ibaraki, Japan… Majoring in Communications… Parents are Yoko and Masashi… Has two older sisters Sayo (25) and Mai (22), and one older brother Shoyo (24)… Says if she could play another sport at UC Davis, it would be soccer… Her sports hero is Serena Williams, and her non-sports hero is Selena Gomez… Her career plan is to work for Buzzfeed… The reason she chose UC Davis was because of the women’s tennis program.
