DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis opened up its California Collegiate Athletic Association play with a 9-0 victory over visiting Cal State, San Bernardino in a women's tennis match Friday afternoon at Hickey Courts.
With the win the Aggies even their early-season record at 2-2.
After sweeping the opening three doubles matches, UC Davis went on to win all six singles tilts, five coming in straight sets. The Aggies went deep into their lineup as 11 different players saw action on Friday as the defending CCAA champions opened defense of their title.
"It always feels good to open conference play with a win, especially today since everyone got to play and we utilized our depth" said Aggie Assistant Coach Sara Morenc. "We swept the double and that is one of our team goals coming into the season - to go into singles ahead - and we accomplished that today." The Aggies continue their seven-match homestand on Saturday when their host Saint Mary's at Hickey Courts. Matchtime is set for noon.
