DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis captured all six singles matches in straight sets as it cruised to a 9-0 victory over San Francisco State in a California Collegiate Athletic Association women's tennis match Wednesday afternoon at Hickey Courts.

With the win UC Davis improves to 5-3 on the season, 4-0 in conference play. The Gators fall to 0-4 overall, 0-3 in CCAA action.

The day began with the Aggies taking all three doubles matches. At No.1, Ally Muller and Nancy Mok earned a service break then held on for the 8-6 win over Elly Swetz and Melissa Magat. Jennifer Fong and Christy Battig defeated Geri Maeshiro and Elysa Laskin, 8-1, at No.2 while Amanda Wise and Ashley Lehman also posted an 8-1 win over Amanda Wong and Kimberly Barnes at No.3.

In singles action, Wise was the first off the court following a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lauren Sambrano at No.6. Muller at No.1 was next after a 6-1, 6-2 win over Swetz at the No.1 spot, followed close behind by Fong's 6-3, 6-2 win over Magat at No.3.

Audrey Wingo then won her team-leading ninth match of the season with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Barnes at No.5. Mok outlasted Maeshiro in a battle of baseliners at the No.2 spot, defeating the Gator junior 6-3, 6-2 just before Yuka Otaka closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Wong at No.4.

"It was a tough match, closer than the score indicated," said Aggie head coach Bill Maze. "The Gators are good grinders, which has been our forte as well this year. We were a bit better than they were today, but they certainly made us earn it."

UC Davis continues its five-match homestand this Sunday when it hosts Grand Canyon at Hickey Courts. Play begins at 11 a.m.
