NoORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge captured all six singles matches in straight sets en route to a 7-0 victory over UC Davis in a women's tennis match Friday afternoon at the Northridge Tennis Complex.
With the loss the Aggies fall to 4-11 on the season.
The Matadors opened the afternoon by taking all three doubles matches for the opening point. Silvia Gutierrez and YuYu Myinttun teamed up for an 8-4 win over Ally Muller and Robin Guier at the top spot while Kanykey Koichumanova and Kasia Krasinska defeated Ashley Lehman and Audrey Wingo at No.3, 8-1, to clinch the point. Canna Furuta and Yasuyo Hashimoto finished doubles play with a 9-8 win over Amanda Wise and Kaitlin Callan.
In singles action, Gutierrez defeated Muller, 6-2, 7-5, at No.1 while Furuta posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Guier at No.2. Koichumanova defeated Wingo 6-3, 6-0 at No.3 while YuYu Myinttun won a close first set before defeating Callan, 6-4, 6-0.
Krasinska earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Yuka Otaka at No.5 and Hashimoto defeated Wise 6-2, 6-2 for the Northridge sweep.
The Aggies continue their southern California swing with two matches on Saturday, facing UC Riverside in the morning and UC Irvine in the afternoon.
