Aggies secure the win over Sacramento State

DAVIS, Calif. -- The UC Davis women's tennis team rounds out their home finale on a high note after winning their dual against Sacramento State's team, 4-3, at the Marya Welch Tennis Center on Saturday morning.

Leading into the Big West Conference Championships, UC Davis concludes their regular season with a 15-6 overall record.

Starting the day off with doubles play, the Aggies went on to secure the doubles point early on with their wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 position. Representing the home team at the No. 1 spot was UC Davis partners Kristy Jorgensen and Kelsie Bryant, who defeated their opponents 6-3, while Aggie team of Kristina Breisacher and Lani-Rae Green officially clinched the doubles point after their No. 2 doubles win over Sacramento State's Maria Gonzalez and Shamika Dhar, 6-2.

Green and Nikita Pradeep brought the Aggies to a three-point lead after garnering straight-set wins over the Hornet's Sofi Wicker and Jenna Dorian, respectively; however, the visiting team pushed through to secure the next two singles match wins at the No. 2 and No 1 position to bring the match to a 3-2 score. 

Although Sacramento State's team went on to secure a No. 6 singles win, which brought their final team score to three, freshman Sara Tsukamoto clinched the team's fourth team point beforehand after her three-set win at the No. 5 position.

The UC Davis women's tennis team returns to action next Thursday to kick off their Big West Conference Championships campaign at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
