In doubles play, three of the four Aggie teams advanced to the second round as the No.5 seeded duo of Salomon and Mok drew a bye in their first round. Schantz and Roemer defeated Sara Jex and Jennie Burggraf of Cal Poly Pomona, 8-3, and now will face the top-seeded team of Hegedus and Amy sun of BYU-Hawaii, in their opening match on Friday.
Fong and Battig earned an 8-2 win over Cal State L.A.'s Brittany Keller and Jessica Scruggs while Lehman and Wise dropped an 8-6 match to Sonoma State's Toby and Nicole Warm.
"It's always nice to see the new players who've come into the CCAA and the Hawaii schools," said Aggie Head Coach Bill Maze. "I thought we played well today and came in with the right attitude, but it's early in the season and we were a little bit rusty."
"I expected Gretchen to play well and she did while Janice (Salomon) just ran into a tough match. I thought all our seniors did a good job today."
Play continues at the West Region Championships through Saturday.
