MORAGA, Calif. — Sophomores and doubles team Kristina Breisacher and Nikita Pradeep advance to the Flight “B” Final Round, while senior Lani-Rae Green advances to the Flight “A” consolation semifinals in singles play after two match wins to highlight day two for UC Davis at the Saint Mary’s Fall Invitational in Moraga, Calif.
Beisacher and Pradeep garnered a match victory in the Semifinal Round of doubles play, 8-5, over Sonoma State duo Jenna DeTurk and Carolyn Brooner. The Aggie duo is scheduled to compete in the Final Round of the main draw against Cal’s Jasie Dunk and Audrey Mayer on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
Green started her singles performance in the first round of Flight “A” consolation play by defeating San Francisco’s Hanna Borjeson in straight-sets, 7-5, 7-5, followed by another straight set win in the Quarterfinal Round, 6-4, 6-2, against UC Santa Barbara’s Lise Sentenac. The Kekaha, Hawai'i native will play in the Semifinal Round against Tamara Culibrk from San Jose State on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
In the Flight “B” singles play, UC Davis freshman Shirley Hall, the No. 3 seeded player in this flight, advanced to the Quarterfinal Round after defeating Sonoma State’s Hannah Highsmith , 2-6, 7-6(10), 6-3, in the Round of 16, but it was Eastern Washington’s Rylee Braeden that ended up getting the quarterfinals win.
Aggie doubles team Green and Hall teamed up for round robin play in the extra doubles consolation draw, and defeated Sacramento State’s Frana Ugarkovic and Sofia Wicker, 8-2.
For the main draw in the Flight “A” Round of 16, Breisacher and senior Kristy Jorgensen were defeated by Fresno State’s Alessia Dario and the No. 4 seed from Saint Mary’s Maria Kozyreva, respectively.
Breisacher will return to the courts for day three of action to meet with UC Santa Barbara’s Lise Sentenac, while Pradeep will go up against Sentenac’s teammate Amit Lev-Ari for the extra “A” singles consolation draw at 10:00 a.m.
Sophomore Kelsie Bryant is scheduled to compete against Fresno State’s Abbey Watanabe Sunday at 12:00 p.m. in the extra “B” singles consolation draw.
