IRVINE, Calif. – For the second time within the last four weeks, senior Megan Heneghan was selected as the Big West Conference’s Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.

With the announcement, the Tustin, Calif. native became the first Aggie in the program’s Division I history to receive multiple weekly awards in the same season.

Last week, Heneghan won three of four matches played to help UC Davis earn a split of its Central California road trip. At UC Santa Barbara, it was Heneghan and Kobayakawa who won the decisive match in the doubles round to help UC Davis earn its only team point of the afternoon.

The following day, at Cal Poly, the pair earned another doubles win to earn a weekend sweep. Heneghan punctuated the day by earning a straight-set singles victory to help the Aggies end their trip with a win.

On Feb. 19, Heneghan received her first award after battling her way to a team-high four match victories throughout the preceding week’s events. Included in that total is a singles victory earned at then-No. 46 Long Beach State, one of two team points earned by that Aggies that afternoon.

Including February’s announcement, Heneghan has received weekly accolades from the league on four occasions throughout her UC Davis career. She was first named Player of the Week, on Feb. 23, 2011, during her freshman season at UC Davis and selected during her sophomore campaign on Feb. 8, 2012.

After opening its six-match homestand on March 12 with a win, UC Davis will experience a two-week hiatus before returning to action at the Marya Welch Tennis Courts against Eastern Washington. That dual, scheduled for March 26, will start at 10 a.m.
