UC Davis Faces Sacramento State On Senior Day

DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis women's tennis team will conclude its regular season Friday afternoon when it hosts Sacramento State. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Marya Welch Tennis Center and will feature the final home contest for Jessica Harris, Jenna Kappel, Andrea Phillips, Randi Schuler and Emma Shapiro.

UC Davis (11-10) was last in action Sunday when it defeated Montana, 6-1, at home. Overall, the Aggies have won six of their past nine matches. Sacramento State (15-8) is currently ranked 49th nationally and brings in a three-match winning streak.

Collectively, the five seniors have played an instrumental role in the team's success this season with a combined 81 victories. Kappel is tied for second overall with 24 wins while Harris is tied for second with 13 dual wins. She leads the team with 16 singles wins, which includes fall action. Schuler is tied for second on the team with 13 doubles victories and has 19 wins overall. The bulk of Phillips' action has been in doubles where she has won 10 times. Shapiro enters Friday's match with five wins in her last six outings in singles.

Friday's match closes out a nine-match homestand for UC Davis. The Aggies will next be in action at The Big West Tournament when they face UC Irvine in a quarterfinal match on April 17 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif.
