IRVINE, Calif. - Megan Heneghan earned Big West All-Conference First Team honors in singles for the UC Davis women's tennis team while Dahra Zamudio added Second Team accolades and the team of Kelly Chui/Layla Sanders collected a Second Team doubles plaudit, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Heneghan served as the No. 1 singles player for the majority of the season, recording an 8-8 mark in that position and a 13-10 overall record in dual match singles. The award marks her second consecutive First Team honor after being named Freshman of the Year in 2011.
Zamudio capped off a stand-out career as an Aggies, posting a 12-12 overall record in dual match singles and a 10-6 mark in the No. 2 position. She has received Big West honors in each of her four years at UC Davis, including three Second Team appearances.
Chui and Sanders paired up mid-season but quickly moved up to the No. 1 position in doubles for the Aggies. They combined to finish with a 5-4 record in dual match doubles with a 4-3 mark in the No. 1 spot.
The postseason awards come after an impressive Big West Championship run for UC Davis. The Aggies won their first-ever tournament match since joining the Big West, downing Pacific in the quarterfinal round, 4-0. UC Davis also finished its second consecutive season with a record of .500 or better. The Aggies posted a 6-2 mark in Big West regular season play, tying the best league record in program history.
