DAVIS, Calif. - Junior Kristy Jorgensen and sophomore Kelsie Bryant earned All-Big West honors when the conference released its list of all-conference recipients, as selected by its head coaches. When revealed, Jorgensen earned Second Team Singles and Second Team Doubles accolades with her partner Bryant.
This is the second time in Jorgensen’s career that she collected an All-Big West Doubles award, and the first time she was recognized for her singles play. Thursday’s announcement also marked the first time that Bryant earned end-of-season league honors as an Aggie.
Jorgensen-Bryant earned a team-high 10 wins throughout the spring — the highest total of any Aggie doubles pairing. The two faced opponents’ top teams all season long since each one of those victories were captured at the No. 1 position.
Having competed in all six singles positions throughout her first two seasons at UC Davis, every appearance this past season took place for Jorgensen as her team’s No. 1 player. As a freshman and sophomore, the San Carlos native won four combined singles matches at the top spot; this year, she more than doubled that total by recording 10 victories.
By finishing the 2017 season with a 15-10 overall record, UC Davis posted its second-highest win total during the program’s Division I era.
