2008: Played in all 29 matches and 108 sets, one of only two Aggies (along with Avreeta Singh) to do so... Made 22 starts... Finished year with 130-81-396 (.124) hitting with 16 aces and 307 digs (2.84 dps)... Had six matches with 10-plus kills, 15 of double-figure digs... Enjoyed productive home stretch to the season, landing 81 kills and 131 digs in final nine matches... Tallied 13 kills and 22 digs in road win at Cal State Fullerton (10/18), then added 11 kills and 22 digs in home rematch with Titans a month later (11/14)... Also started strong, recording 13 kills, 2 aces and 11 digs vs. Saint Mary's (8/29) followed by 14-kill, 11-dig performance at Fresno State (8/30).
2007: Started all but one of her 28 matches, playing in 99 total sets... Led Aggies in kills (328), errors (208) and attempts (908), hitting .122 overall... Average of 3.31 kpg ranked 8th in Big West Conference... Added 17 aces and 323 digs (3.26 dpg), ranking 10th among conference leaders in latter category... Had 12 double-doubles, starting with 20-kill, 12-dig performance at Fresno State (8/31)... Also hit .304 with a pair of aces in that match... Matched season-high 20 kills with 17 digs vs. Boise State (9/7)... Posted two other matches of 20-plus digs: 22 (with 16 kills) vs. Cal State Fullerton (10/19), 23 (with 23 kills) at Cal Poly (10/27).
VISTA MURRIETA HS '07: Member of school's first-ever varsity team... Captured first-team All-Southwestern League and All-Southern Section honors as a senior... Helped Broncos advance to CIF-SS quarterfinals that year... Earned All-Southwestern League first team and All-Valley second team in 2005... Served as team captain for Saddleback Valley VBC, helping her squad place 2nd at Reno Volleyball Festival in 2006.
PERSONAL: Born in San Diego, Calif.... Majoring in communication... Parents are Mike & Krista Varney... Grandfather is Gary McCord, PGA Tour pro turned golf broadcaster and writer... Lists McCord as her sports hero... Proudest personal accomplishment was getting a 4.0 grade-point average as a senior so she could attend UC Davis.
