Despite 35 total kills from outside hitters Kelly Gaudino and Kim Vincent, UC Davis lost 33-31, 30-17, 30-18 to seventh-ranked Brigham Young-Hawaii in its final action at the Western Washington Viking Invitational women's volleyball tournament Saturday at Carver Gym.

With the loss, the Aggies fall to 4-4 on the season. They went 1-3 in the two-day tournament. The Seasiders improve to 7-0 on the season.

UC Davis opened strong, battling BYUH to a 33-31 loss in Game 1. The Aggies had 22 kills and just six errors for a .314 hitting average in that frame, overcoming a 14-7 deficit to tie the game at 19-19. Vincent had four kills in a 7-2 run to give the Aggies a 26-19 lead, but the Seasiders defended three game points. Outside hitter Weng Yu Chuan posted back-to-back kills to win the game for BYUH.

The Seasiders hit .463 in Game 2 and .444 in Game 3 to decisively complete the sweep. Lin Chun Yi hit 18-4-32 for a .438 average to lead her team offensively. Weng recorded 17 kills and a .455 hitting percentage to go with her 12 digs.

For the Aggies, Vincent posted 18 kills and 16 digs to lead her team in each category. Gaudino added 17 kills and 11 digs for UC Davis.

The Aggies' next action is a home match against Notre Dame de Namur on September 17.
