SAN JOSE, Calif. - Freshman middle blocker Jennifer Senftleben posted 14 kills and hit .500 to lead San Jose State to a 30-19, 30-18, 30-16 sweep over UC Davis in a women's collegiate volleyball match at the SJSU Event Center Wednesday.

The Aggies fall to 1-11 overall. The Spartans improve to 9-3 for the year.

Senior libero Mary McClelland highlighted the UC Davis side of the boxscore with a match-high 21 digs. The outing represents her seventh match of the year with at least 20 digs, trying Candy Lench's 1990 school record.

The Aggies struggled offensively as a team, compiling just one more kill than errors for an .008 average. However, senior Mary Gaber was a bright spot, hitting 3-for-8 to go with her three total blocks at the net.

For SJSU, Sarah Christensen added 12 kills and a pair of aces. Dyana Thompson posted six total blocks, including a pair of solos. Sophomore libero Jessie Shull had three service aces and 12 digs, while senior Brooke Herald led the Spartans with 16 digs.

Shull gave her team a jump start in Game 1, serving eight straight points to open the match. UC Davis never approached closer than a 22-15 deficit in the game, dropping the final two points on back-to-back attack errors.

Senior Kate Wilton had two kills in a four-point span to help the Aggies hang in with a 9-8 deficit to start the second game. But attack errors from six different UC Davis players helped the Spartans pull away by 21-12, never to look back. Christensen ended Game 2 with a side-out kill followed by a service ace.

A kill and a block assist by sophomore Rachel Keener helped UC Davis open 4-1 in Game 3. Spartan senior Carrie Nash landed two of her nine match kills in the next stretch, helping SJSU take the lead for good. Shull served up four straight points - helped by two more kills by Senftleben - allowed the Spartans pull away by as much as 16-9. Keener ended the serving run to cut the lead to six, but that was as close as UC Davis got in the final game. SJSU went on a 12-2 run to stretch its margin to 28-12.
