Junior outside hitter Kelly Gaudino led the Aggies with 13 kills, eight digs and four service aces in a 30-20, 30-22, 30-21 sweep of Cal St. Dominguez Hills in California Collegiate Athletic Assocation women's volleyball action at Hickey Gym Saturday night.

UC Davis improves to 6-9 on the season, and 2-4 in CCAA contests. The Toros fall to 2-12 overall, and 1-5 in league play.

"I was pleased with the well-rounded effort," said UC Davis head coach Stephanie Hawbecker. "We came out a little anxious in the first game but we regrouped. Our focus from ball to ball was better than last night, and we had a lot of nice serving runs. I'm pleased with the way we served - it was very consistent."

Also contributing heavily for the Aggies was senior middle blocker Cassandra Prell and sophomore opposite Kim Vincent, who each had four blocks. Prell managed nine kills and hit a robust .412 for the match. Setter Marritt Cafarchia recorded 36 assists and chipped in a pair of service aces.

For the Toros, Vivian Maxie hit 11 kills against just three errors for a .444 hitting average. She also had a solo block and two block assists. Sophomore Keesha Aldridge was her team's net leader with four total blocks while libero Richelle Gingerich led the floor defense with 12 digs for CSUDH.

In Game 1, Aggie outside hitter Kate Wilton served up eight straight points to take the game from an 18-18 tie to a 26-18 Aggie advantage. Gaudino posted six kills on 12 attempts in that frame to bolster the offense.

UC Davis' win in the second game was marked by two strong serving runs by Jennie Tilles. The Aggies went from a 5-5 tie to an 11-6 lead early in Game 2, then saw two kills by Wilton help stretch a lead to 21-13. Dominguez cut the lead to 24-20, but later had back-to-back ball-handling errors set up an Aggie game point.

Wilton exploded for seven kills on 10 attempts in Game 3 to help UC Davis complete the sweep. As a team, the Aggies hit .294 and posted four team blocks in the final frame.

UC Davis plays three conference matches next week, beginning with a Wednesday home date with travel partner Chico State.
