SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. --- Junior Kim Ford chalked up a match-high 17
kills and 13 digs to lead No. 3 Cal St., San Bernardino over UC Davis, 30-16,
30-19, 30-22, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association women's volleyball
match at the Coussoulis Arena Saturday. The Aggies drop to 6-16 on the season,
and 2-11 in conference play. The Coyotes improve to 20-1 overall, and 12-1
in CCAA action.
Kelly Gaudino was UC Davis' top hitter with eight kills. She and libero
Mary McClelland each posted nine digs. Setter Mary Gaber led the Aggie net
defense with seven block assists, while senior Cassandra Prell added six
stuffs. UC Davis posted a total of nine team blocks.
For CSSB, Kristen Soliz recorded eight kills and six blocks. Kim Ford
knocked down seven kills, combining with Ford for a .396 hitting average.
Setter Cristen Trent hit .500 in eight attempts and led all players with
37 assists.
UC Davis committed 10 hitting errors in the 30-16 loss in Game 1, but
was able to clean up its offense by the third frame. The Aggies had just
three errors in 38 attempts in the final game.
The Coyotes hit .367 in the first game and posted 45 kills for the match,
nearly twice as many as UC Davis.
The Aggies host Bay Area foes San Francisco State and Sonoma State in
continued CCAA action next weekend.
