ROHNERT PARK, Calif. --- Erin Manly recorded a match-high 21 kills while fellow middle blocker Megan Dierker hit .476 to lead Sonoma State to a 30-16, 30-26, 27-30, 30-18 victory over UC Davis in a California Collegiate Athletic Association women's volleyball match at Seawolf Gym Saturday.

The Aggies drop to 12-10 for the season and 7-8 in conference action. The Seawolves improve to 13-9 and 8-7 in CCAA play.

Outside hitters Kelly Gaudino and Kate Wilton led UC Davis offensively with 16 and 14 kills, respectively. That tandem accounted for almost 60 percent of the team's offense, taking 105 of the Aggies' 188 total attempts, but hit just a combined .162 for the match.

Gaudino also posted 19 digs, matching defensive specialist/setter Christina Ng for the team lead. Libero Mary McClelland added 17 digs for UC Davis. Junior DS Sarah Johnstone provided a defensive spark off the bench for the second straight match, providing eight digs in three games. Jenny Pierce also came off the bench to hit 2-0-5 offensively and contribute two aces and two blocks.

Dierker compiled 11 kills against just one error on offense and added two aces and two blocks. Sandy Tuttle had 10 kills and a .348 hitting average to complement her five block assists at the net. Lindsay Smith and Ashley Arriola each had 23 digs on defense.

SSU hit .400 in Game 1 and .390 in Game 4 to post its most decisive game victories. UC Davis had 19 kills on 54 swings in its only win, a 30-27 Game 3 win that prevented a Seawolf sweep.



The Aggies return home for three straight CCAA matches at Hickey Gym, starting with Cal St. Dominguez Hills on October 31.
