DAVIS, Calif. - Seniors Sandra Bandimere and Emily Wilson combined for 24 kills and a .364 hitting average to lead Sacramento State to a 30-17, 30-19, 30-16 sweep over UC Davis in a non-conference women's collegiate volleyball match at the Pavilion Tuesday.
The Hornets improve to 18-6 on the season. The Aggies fall to 1-17 overall.
Bandimere had 13 kills on 35 swings while Wilson hit an errorless 11 kills on 20 attempts. Freshman middle Lindsay Haupt had five total blocks along with five kills.
For UC Davis, Nicole Read and Mary Gaber led the offense with 7 and 6 kills offensively. Defensively, setter Katelyn Astruc posted 15 digs while libero Mary McClelland added 13. Senior defensive specialist Marritt Cafarchia recorded a pair of aces.
Bandimere had five kills and six digs in Game 1, as Sac State finished the game on a 9-0 run. Haupt and junior Natalie Melcher combined on a block for the 28th point, then Wilson recorded back-to-back aces to complete the win.
In Game 2, Haupt had two kills and a block during a 10-2 run that opened the Hornets up to a 19-11 lead. Wilson finished with six kills on 10 attempts in the second game. McClelland had seven digs for UC Davis during the stanza.
Bandimere added six more kills while setter Stephanie Gamst provided seven digs on the floor to lead Sac State in Game 3. The Hornets had a 6-1 run during the middle portion of the frame to help break open the game to a 20-11 margin.
UC Davis returns to the road for matches against Cal St. Fullerton and UC Riverside. The Hornets host Montana on Thursday.
