Riverside built a 2-0 lead in games after eking out a close Game 1, then blasting UC Davis with a .417 hitting average in Game 2. Valerie Bueno and Jamie Dekiewet combined for nine kills and no errors on 19 swings in the second game.

Wilton, who had knocked down seven kills in the first game, compiled an errorless nine kills in Game 3, while McClelland recorded 10 digs in the frame. Wilton and sophomore Nicole Read traded kills in a 4-0 start, and the Aggies led the rest of the way to hold off a Riverside sweep.

UC Davis caught fire again to start Game 4, opening on a 4-0 run then building as much as a 17-8 margin midway through. The Aggies then suffered from five attack errors to put the Highlanders on a 7-2 run, closing the gap to 19-15. Riverside cut the deficit even close to scores of 22-21 and 24-23, each time capitalizing on UC Davis miscues. However, McClelland served up five straight points to finish the frame, getting a pair of kills from sophomore Rachel Keener in that run.

Keener nailed back-to-back kills in the opening stretch of the fifth game, helping UC Davis craft a 5-1 lead it would never reliniquish. A kill by setter Katelyn Astruc set up a 14-11 match point situation for the Aggies, but the Highlanders fought back with a Dekeiwiet kill and an ace by Willemina Stikker-Breemhaar to trim the lead to 14-13. However, Read finished the match with a side-out kill from Astruc to take the win.

All 12 Aggies played in at least two games of the match. Read finished with 16 kills while Astruc hit .400 on 15 attempts. The Aggie setter also added three blocks, including a pair of solos. Wilson provided a 6-1-19 hitting chart off the bench for UC Davis. McClelland's 31 digs ties the school mark set by Jill Changaris in 1996.
