BAKERSFIELD, Calif. --- Sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Jordan
had 14 kills and a .583 hitting average while senior Jessica Slayton served
up a conference-record 10 aces to lead Cal St. Bakersfield to a 30-26, 30-15,
30-15 sweep over UC Davis in a California Collegiate Athletic Association
women's volleyball match at the Icardo Center Friday.
The Aggies fall to 15-13 overall and 10-11 in CCAA play. The Roadrunners
improve to 19-7 on the season and 17-4 in conference.
Freshman middle blocker Nicole Read led UC Davis offensively with a .333
hitting average on 15 attempts, and added three service aces. Kate Wilton
had a team-best nine kills on offense while senior Kelly Gaudino added seven.
Setter Christina Ng posted eight digs to lead the floor defense.
Jordan committed no errors in 24 total attacks. As a team, CSUB hit .533
in Game 2 and .357 in Game 3, suffering just two hitting errors in each
of those wins. The Roadrunners compiled a record 20 aces during the match,
with Morgan Reed providing five and Ingrid Berntsen and Lisa North adding
two each. Reed had four straight aces in a 7-0 run during Game 3.
Slayton recorded a 9-2-15 offensive chart for a .467 hitting average
and also shared the team lead with nine digs, matching Nicole Holland's
defensive total. She had five of her record-setting 10 aces in an 8-0 run
down the stretch of Game 3.
UC Davis finishes its last season in the CCAA with a match at Cal St.
Stanislaus Saturday.
