DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis women's volleyball added a fourth member to its 2012 fall National Letter of Intent signing class, head coach Jamie Holmes announced Tuesday. The Aggies inked American River College and former Golden Sierra High School standout Kaitlyn Christner during the November signing period.

The Aggies previously earned NLI commitments from Erika Conners (San Diego, Calif.), Aima Eichie (Castle Rock, Colo.) and Kendall Walbrecht (La Cañada, Calif.) earlier this month.

Christner, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter, was a two-time all-state honoree at GSHS, from which she graduated in 2012. She garnered four first-team all-league awards - two in the Golden Empire League then two more in the Sierra Delta League - including a pair of conference MVP nods as a junior and senior. Christner added four All-Metro accolades plus honorable mention to the 2011 PrepVolleyball and AVCA Under Armour All-America teams. She made PrepVolleyball's Senior Aces list as one of the top 250 prospects in the country. Christner finished with totals of 433 and 380 kills in her final two prep seasons, respectively, averaging more than 4.5 kills per set during that span.

"I am thrilled and eager to have the opportunity to work with Kaitlyn Christner," said Holmes. "She plays the game high above the net, with good jumping ability and a strong, physical presence. I know she is a future point-scorer and a high-impact player for the Aggies."

Christner played her freshman year at nearby American River College, where she won All-Region, all-state and All-Big 8 Conference first-team recognition. She ranked third among California two-year college players with a 4.7 kills per set average, and hit .337 on 1041 attacks. Christner also ranked among the state leaders with 55 aces. Her 441 kills led all state players.

On the club scene, Christner was a teammate of current Aggie freshman Kaylin Squyres on the NCVC 17-1 and 18-1 Moxie squad that competed at the 2010 and 2011 Junior Nationals in the Open and National divisions, respectively.

UC Davis holds a 16-14 overall record and a fourth-place 10-7 mark in the Big West Conference. The Aggies finish their 2012 season with a road match at Pacific on Saturday.
