A former Aggie water polo and swimming standout, Doug Wright joins his older brother on the UC Davis coaching staff. He comes to the Aggie program by way of nearby Davis Senior High, where he has guided the Blue Devils to three straight Sac-Joaquin Section titles and a record streak of 95 straight wins. Many of his players have advanced to the college ranks, including recent Aggie standouts Melissa Agee and Ligaya Smith.

As a senior, Wright earned All-America status in the 200 butterfly and 200 freestyle relay, helping UC Davis capture the Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference title and a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships. As a team captain in water polo, he was named second-team All-WWPA. Wright earned his degree in art history in 1994.
